E-bike Testing – Part 3 of Finding the right E-bike for You!

E-bike Testing
Last week our team took a trip to Century Cycles in Peninsula, Ohio* for some E-bike testing! We chose Century Cycles, but there is another bike rental shop, Pedego. Peninsula, Ohio has an amazing Towpath called the Lock 29 Trailhead which can take you from Summit County all the way to downtown Cleveland! We did our research and it was time to take a test ride.
E-bike Features
For our test, we rode the Momentum Vida E+ with a step-through frame and a mid-drive (where the motors and gears are placed in middle of the bike, at the crank assembly). The bike has 5-levels of pedal assist. When increasing the levels, you could almost feel the bike lightly pushing you and providing more power while riding. We all asked the questions “how would we use this bike” and “what kind of rider am I”? These questions are crucial on your E-bike search. We found this E-bike is easy to use, and the charge held for 26.6 miles. When we completed our ride, we had used only 2 of the 5 charge levels to make this trip. Yep! You read that right, we went 26.6 miles on a single charge and could have gone further on that charge alone!
Our Thoughts on our E-bike Test Ride
During our ride, we truly felt as if we were gliding. Throughout the ride, we all agreed that we did not feel out of breath, and our thighs were not tired or tight. I personally have to limit the amount of exercise I am allowed to do because of a health condition. This is a great low-impact workout. It was awesome to be outside in the fresh air and exercising without really feeling like you were! I highly recommend an E-bike to anyone who is slowly getting back into exercising or needs that extra push when bike riding. While riding we saw several other individuals on E-bikes. They all professed nothing but love for their E-bike.
Test one!
If you are looking for a weekend activity in Northeast Ohio, head on down to Peninsula and rent some bikes for the Towpath! From their website, Pedego rents E-bikes at $50/hour or $150/day. Century Cycles’ E-bike rentals are $55.00 for a 2-hour ride. They also have non-E-bike rentals for $12.00 per hour. The Momentum bike we rode is great test bike for anyone who is starting their journey into E-bikes. Before you buy an E-bike, we highly recommend taking an E-bike for a test ride, it will make all the difference.
Happy E-biking!
