Electric Trimmer Demo (Part 5 of 5)

Electric Trimmer – Part 5 of 5 of my Electric Power Tool Demo articles.
The trimmer was the tool that least impressed me. Please note, I have limited trimmer experience be it gas or electric, so it may just be a tool I don’t enjoy using. Still the benefits were obviously the lack of noise. It also completed the jobs I needed it to, but the smoothness and ease was just average.
Electric Trimmer Review
Favorite Features:
Quietness – again…much quieter
Safety – bump head, I liked this feature over an auto release of the strings
Weight – very lightweight, no gas tank attached
Usability Score: 3.5
(Scale is 1-5, 1 worst, 5 best. Score based on ease of use, frequency of use, functionality, features, and storage space.)
The trimmer was the lowest ranking tool on the list, this is due to the average ease of use and the likelihood that the strings will need to be replaced regularly and possibly the bump head unit.
Limitation:
I had a difficult time getting the correct angle to properly trim edges. I created a few divots attempting to cleanly edge around my beds, sidewalks, driveway, and mailbox.
In conclusion, my usability score may reflect my novice edging experience. The trimmer performance was still above average, however, I was blown away with the capability, performance, and convenience of the other four electric tools I tested.
